More Than a Concert – An Evening With Swanee

Unlike a traditional concert, An Evening With Swanee invites audiences behind the music and into the extraordinary life of one of Australia's most enduring rock voices.

Across an intimate evening, Swanee will share the stories behind the songs, the highs and lows of a career spanning more than five decades, life on the road, friendships with some of Australia's biggest music stars, and the experiences that shaped both the man and the music.

Interwoven throughout the evening will be acoustic performances of many of the songs that have become synonymous with Swanee's remarkable career, along with highlights from his acclaimed new album Believe. Expect an honest, entertaining and heartfelt performance where no two shows are ever quite the same.

Featuring Alan Barnes & Tim Henwood

Adding another special element to the evening is the appearance of Swanee's younger brother, Alan Barnes, who joins John and Tim Henwood on stage for this intimate performance.

Alan features on the moving track "Brother of Mine" from the acclaimed Believe album, marking the first time John, Jimmy and Alan Barnes had ever recorded together. While Jimmy Barnes is not appearing at this event, the song represents a significant milestone in the musical history of the Barnes family, making Alan's appearance in Bairnsdale an especially meaningful part of the evening.

Sharing the stage is acclaimed guitarist Tim Henwood, one of Australia's most respected and accomplished musicians. Widely recognised as Suzi Quatro's guitarist on her Australian tours, Tim is also known for his work with Rogue Traders, The Androids, Powderfinger and The Whitlams, along with countless performances alongside many of Australia's biggest recording artists. His exceptional musicianship, versatility and long-standing musical partnership with Swanee make him the perfect complement to this unique production.

Opening the evening is Olivia Lay, one of East Gippsland's most exciting emerging singer-songwriters, whose soulful voice and engaging performances make her the perfect artist to begin this unforgettable night.
